Stone Forest or Shilin (Stone wood of Shilin)
This picturesque area is located 120 kilometers southeast of Kunming in Shilinskogo Autonomous County. Occupies 350 square kilometers area in Kunming is the largest and most famous tourist area. Main attractions: the so-called Stone Forest and waterfalls.
270 million years ago - Shilin was at the bottom of ancient oceans. Retreating sea left behind a limestone cliff bizarre shapes which further "refine" the erosion.
Sam Stone Forest is divided into two parts: the Big Stone Forest and the Lesser Stone Forest (aka Naygusky stone forest) among the rocks, there are two water reservoirs - one of natural origin (Lake Chanhu), the second - an artificial (ornamental lake).
